So it was with the backyard.
I had purchased a ton (not literally) of peat moss and compost when I thought Mike was going to build me a bed. Once that idea was dismissed, I was using the soil stuff to make my own potting mix and filling containers to plant in. The thing was there was still so much left over. I was lying in bed the other morning and looking out on my containers and all of the empty yard space that was left. Then I thought, I could really probably just scoot the rocks to the side and till in the peat and the compost and plant right there. No need to build anything. So I wandered out into the yard, still in my pj's and began to clear a very small round area, just to test the waters. They cleared beautifully. Then I stuck my garden fork into the ground to see if I would be able to work with it. It slid in beautifully. Nice! So I mixed in my amendments and planted a single tomato plant.
Well, like I said, it's a sickness. Later in the day I decided to clear an entire 8 foot by 2 foot strip and planted beans, squash, sunflowers and more tomatoes. I was planning on lining the front of the strip with marigolds but needed to go buy some. Here's how it looked.
So today after I dropped Mike at work and "got my hairs did", I stopped by Lowes for marigolds. I did buy some, however I also saw 4 packs of heirloom tomatoes and peppers for $1.99. I couldn't pass them up. I tried. Believe me I did. But I just couldn't. So when I got home, I extended that new plot. I planted everything I bought and now I'm done. I swear. I think.
Here's the updated pictures of the backyard garden.

I love your kind of sickness! You'll be so happy come harvest time too!
You're just like your old dad. I ordered grapes to plant. And, a couple of weeks ago, I went to the White River Fish Hatchery and got several tons of fish manure. I shall double the size of my garden this year. I'm thinking strawberries, too. Why not? I love you and yours.
