I was just thinking how far I've come since making my very first wedding cake. The very first one was for my oldest sister Jenna's wedding. It was just a simple 3 tier periwinkle cake. The wedding was in Utah and I live in AZ and couldn't make it for the special day. My other sister Amanda was able to go up and so she brought the cake for me. As I was bringing the cake to Amanda's house the night before, I dropped one of the tiers on the sidewalk. I was absolutely mortified and just felt beaten by it all. Jenna appreciated the cake no matter how ugly it ended up being.
Now, more than 5 years later, I've made another family member's wedding cake. This one turned out quite a bit better. (Sorry, Jenna, that you had to be the guinea pig!)
Mike's younger brother was married last weekend. They had a fall theme and asked that their cake reflect it with some fall-colored leaves. It was such a delicious cake, I do not mind saying. It was caramel apple cake with a cinnamon buttercream. Oh my! We were all picking at the leftovers the next day.
Here it is!!

That cake is just gorgeous! I would absolutely us you to make my cakes if I lived closer! I love it!
Beautiful cake, perfect for fall.
It sounds yummy and looks beautiful!
That cake is absolutely gorgeous!
Well, that cake IS a lot prettier than mine, I have to say! :) You've come a long way for sure, but I am HAPPY to have been the guinea pig! The only way I really feel ripped off is that you were at THAT wedding and not mine! Having you there would have been perfect. But my cake was still pretty and VERY delicious!
